Adding a header and footer to a PDF puts a consistent line of text along the top and bottom of every page — a title, an author, a date, a page count, or a confidentiality note. There are six independent slots (left, center, and right, for both the header and the footer), so you can put a document title top-left, a note top-right, and “Page 1 of 12” bottom-center all at once. Fill only the boxes you need; empty ones add nothing.

Smart tokens do the repetitive work: type {page} for the current page, {total} for the page count, {date} for today's date, and {filename} for the file's name — mix them with your own words, like “{filename}, page {page} of {total}”. Set the font, size, color, and margins, choose the starting page number, and process up to 30 PDFs at once (they come back as a ZIP). It all runs in your browser with pdf-lib, so your files are never uploaded and never leave your device.

Frequently asked questions

Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?
No. The header and footer are added entirely in your browser using pdf-lib. Your files never leave your device. You can confirm it by opening your browser's Network tab while it runs: no file data is sent.
What tokens can I use in the text?
Four: {page} inserts the current page number, {total} the number of pages in the file, {date} today's date, and {filename} the file's name (without the .pdf extension). Mix them with your own words, for example “{filename}, page {page} of {total}”.
Can I add a header and a footer at the same time?
Yes. There are six boxes: a left, center, and right slot for both the header (top of the page) and the footer (bottom). Fill only the ones you want. Empty boxes add nothing.
Can I number more than one PDF at once?
Yes. Add up to 30 PDFs and the same header and footer settings are applied to each. One file downloads as a PDF. Two or more download together as a single ZIP, each processed independently.
Can I control the font and position?
Yes. Set the font (Helvetica, Times New Roman, or Courier), size, and color, and fine-tune the side and edge margins so the text sits exactly where you want. You can also set the starting page number for the {page} token.
Can I rotate a PDF before adding the header and footer?
Yes. Each file card has a rotate button (↻) that turns its pages 90° clockwise. Tap again for 180° or 270°. The header and footer are added to the rotated page and still read upright, landing at the correct edges.
Is Add Header & Footer free?
Yes, it's completely free to use, with no sign-up and nothing to install.
