How to add shapes to a PDF

Frequently asked questions

Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?
No. Your PDF is rendered and edited entirely in your browser with pdf.js and pdf-lib. The file never leaves your device. You can confirm it in your browser's Network tab: no file data is sent.
Which shapes can I add?
An outlined rectangle, an outlined circle or oval, a straight line, and an arrow. Each is drawn as a crisp vector stroke, so it stays sharp at any zoom or print size.
Can I add shapes to a scanned PDF?
Yes. Shapes are placed freely on the page, so they work on any PDF, including a scanned or printed page with no text layer. Box something, circle it, or point an arrow at it.
Can I change the color and line thickness?
Yes. Each shape has its own color and line thickness (thin to extra thick). Resize the box to stretch a rectangle, flatten an oval, or angle a line or arrow.
Can I edit or move a shape after downloading?
The shapes are burned onto the page, so they aren't separate objects you can click to edit later. Keep your original file if you may need to change them, and add shapes to a duplicate.
How is this different from Highlight or Draw on PDF?
