Invert PDF colors: negative or dark mode, privately

Flip a PDF's colours for a film-negative look, or switch it to a comfortable dark mode for night reading, entirely on your device, so the file is never uploaded.

Photo negative inverts every colour. Dark mode inverts only the lightness so backgrounds go dark and text goes light while hues stay intact. Because inverting colours means rendering each page, the result is image-based (text isn't selectable), the same honest trade-off as Grayscale.

  • Two inversion modes

Full photo negative, or hue-preserving dark mode.

  • Easy on the eyes

Dark mode makes documents comfortable to read at night.

  • Private by design

Inverted in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

  • Batch to one ZIP

Invert up to 30 PDFs at once. Several download together as a ZIP.

How to invert the colors of a PDF

  1. Add your PDF(s)

Drop one file (or up to 30) into the upload area.

  2. Pick a mode

Photo negative flips every colour; Dark mode inverts only the lightness so it reads like dark mode.

  3. Invert & download

Click the button to invert, then download the result (a ZIP for several).

Frequently asked questions

Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?
No. The colour inversion runs entirely in your browser. Your files never leave your device. You can confirm it in your browser's Network tab.
What's the difference between the two modes?
“Photo negative” flips every colour (white↔black, and each hue to its opposite) like a film negative. “Dark mode” inverts only the brightness while keeping hues, so a white page becomes dark with light text (easier on the eyes at night) and colours stay recognizable.
Will the text still be selectable?
No. Inverting colours requires rendering each page as an image, so the output pages are images and their text is no longer selectable or searchable, the same trade-off as our Grayscale tool.
Can I invert several PDFs at once?
Yes. Add up to 30 PDFs. One downloads as a PDF, and two or more download together as a single ZIP.
Is Invert PDF Colors free?
Yes, it's completely free to use, with no sign-up and nothing to install.
