Crop a PDF: trim margins and edges, free and private

Trim the white margins off a scan, cut a page down to a single chart, or remove an unwanted edge, visually, by dragging a box over the part to keep. pdfcosmos crops the PDF entirely in your browser, so your file never leaves your device.

Drag and resize the keep-rectangle, or type an exact percentage to trim from each edge, and apply it to all pages, just this page, or a custom range. The crop works in the orientation you see, so it lands correctly even on rotated or sideways-scanned pages. Note that cropping hides the trimmed area rather than deleting it. To remove content for good, use a redaction tool.

  • Crop visually or precisely

Drag a box over what to keep, or type exact margins for each edge.

  • Any pages

All pages, this page only, or a range like 1-3, 5, by the same relative amount.

  • Handles rotated pages

The crop is applied in the orientation you see, so it always lands right.

  • Private, no upload

Cropping runs in your browser. Your file never leaves your device.

Frequently asked questions

Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?
No. Your PDF is rendered and cropped entirely in your browser using pdf-lib. The file never leaves your device. You can confirm it in your browser's Network tab: no file data is sent.
How do I choose the crop area?
Drag the rectangle to move it and pull any of the eight handles to resize it. Everything outside it is dimmed so you can see exactly what will be kept. For precise control, type the percentage to trim from each edge (top, bottom, left, right), or use the arrow keys after focusing the box or a handle.
Can I crop every page at once?
Yes. Choose “All pages”, “This page only”, or a custom range like “1-3, 5”. The same crop proportions are applied to each chosen page, so pages of different sizes are trimmed by the same relative amount.
Is the cropped-out content deleted from the file?
No. Cropping sets each page's visible box (its CropBox and MediaBox), so viewers show only the area you kept, but the hidden content still exists in the file and could be recovered by re-cropping to a larger area. To remove content permanently, use a dedicated redaction tool.
Does cropping work on rotated pages?
Yes. The crop is applied in the orientation you see on screen, so it lands correctly even on pages that were rotated or scanned sideways.
Is Crop PDF free?
Yes, it's completely free to use, with no sign-up and nothing to install.
