Fill and sign a PDF — type, check, date, and draw on any page

Fill & Sign lets you complete a PDF the way you'd fill in a paper form: click anywhere on the page and add exactly what you need. Drop in text boxes and type, place a checkmark in a tick box, stamp today's date, or draw freehand with your mouse, finger, or stylus to add your initials or a signature. Because everything is placed freely rather than into predefined fields, it works on any PDF — a flat export, a scanned or printed form, or an interactive one — not just documents that were built to be fillable.

Each text box has its own font (Helvetica, Times, or Courier), size, and color, and characters outside those fonts — Cyrillic, Greek, Vietnamese, and other extended-Latin — are drawn with an embedded Noto Sans so they still render in every viewer. The whole editor runs in your browser with pdf.js and pdf-lib, so your document is never uploaded and never leaves your device. If you only need to fill a PDF's existing interactive fields, use Fill PDF Forms; for a dedicated, reusable signature, use Sign PDF.

  • Works on flat & scanned PDFs

Place text and marks freely on any page, even a printed form with no interactive fields.

  • Text, checks, dates & drawing

Type, tick a box, stamp the date, or draw your initials or signature by hand.

  • Wide character support

Extended-Latin characters fall back to embedded Noto Sans, so they display everywhere.

  • Nothing is uploaded

Filling and signing happen in your browser with pdf-lib. Your file never leaves your device.

How to fill & sign a PDF

  1. Add your PDF

Click “Select PDF”, or drag a single file into the upload area. Any PDF works, even a flat scan.

  2. Add text

Click “Text”, then click the page where you want the box, and type. Set the font, size, and color, and drag or resize the box any time.

  3. Download

Download your filled PDF. Your text is drawn straight onto the page.

Frequently asked questions

Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?
No. Your PDF is rendered and edited entirely in your browser with pdf.js and pdf-lib. The file never leaves your device. You can confirm it in your browser's Network tab: no file data is sent.
Does this work on a flat or scanned PDF?
Yes. Unlike a form filler, Fill & Sign places your own text anywhere on the page, so it works on any PDF, including a scanned or printed form that has no interactive fields.
How is this different from Fill PDF Forms?
Fill PDF Forms fills a PDF's existing interactive fields (text boxes, checkboxes, dropdowns). Fill & Sign lets you place your own text anywhere, on any PDF. Use Fill PDF Forms for a real form. Use Fill & Sign for a flat page or to add free text.
Can I add a signature?
A signature tool is coming to Fill & Sign. For a dedicated signature right now (draw, type, or upload it and drag it onto the page) use our Sign PDF tool.
Which fonts and characters are supported?
Placed text uses a standard PDF font (Helvetica, Times, or Courier) so it displays in every viewer. Characters outside those fonts' range (Cyrillic, Greek, Vietnamese, and other extended-Latin) are drawn with an embedded Noto Sans instead, so they render correctly too. CJK (Chinese/Japanese/Korean), emoji, and right-to-left scripts like Arabic aren't supported.
Is Fill & Sign free?
Yes, it's completely free to use, with no sign-up and nothing to install.
