Insert pages into a PDF — drop one document inside another

Insert Pages weaves the pages of one PDF into another at an exact position, rather than just joining files end to end. Choose your base document (the one you're inserting into) and a second “donor” PDF, then decide where its pages should land — at the very start, the very end, or right after (or before) any page you name. It's the clean way to drop a two-page addendum in after page 10 of a report, or slip a cover sheet in front of an existing file.

You can insert the whole donor PDF or just a range of its pages (for example 1-3, 5), and the selected pages go in as a single block at the spot you chose. The insert runs in your browser with qpdf, with pdf.js reading the page counts, so nothing is uploaded and your files never leave your device. To join whole PDFs one after another instead, use Merge PDF — and unlock any password-protected file before inserting, since an encrypted PDF can't be read without its password.

  • Insert at an exact spot

Place the pages at the start, end, or after any page you name — not just end-to-end.

  • All pages or a range

Insert the whole donor PDF or just selected pages like 1-3, 5, as one block.

  • Powered by qpdf

A structural insert that keeps your pages intact, running in your browser.

  • Nothing is uploaded

Both PDFs are read and combined on your device. Your files never leave it.

How to insert pages into a PDF

  1. Add both PDFs

Choose the base PDF (the document to insert into) and the PDF whose pages you want to insert.

  2. Choose what and where

Pick which donor pages to insert (all or a range) and where in the base: at the start, end, or after a page.

  3. Insert and download

Click “Insert pages”. The pages are woven in and the new PDF downloads, all in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?
No. Both PDFs are read and combined entirely in your browser (pdfjs to read, qpdf to insert). Your files never leave your device. You can confirm it in your browser's Network tab.
How is this different from Merge PDF?
Merge joins whole PDFs end to end. Insert Pages puts the pages of one PDF inside another at an exact spot, for example dropping a 2-page addendum in after page 10 of a report.
Can I insert just some pages, not the whole file?
Yes. Choose “A range of pages” and enter the donor pages to insert (e.g. 1-3, 5). Leave it on “All pages” to insert the entire second PDF.
Where can I insert the pages?
At the start or end of the base document, or after (or before) any page you name. The donor pages are inserted as a block at that spot.
Can it insert into a password-protected PDF?
No. Unlock it first (with the Unlock PDF tool), then insert. Encrypted files can't be read without the password.
Is Insert Pages free?
Yes, it's completely free to use, with no sign-up and nothing to install.
