By accessing or using pdfcosmos (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy . If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these terms on its behalf.

pdfcosmos is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children. By using the Service, you confirm that you are able to form a legally binding agreement under the laws that apply to you. If you are a minor in your country, please use pdfcosmos only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

pdfcosmos offers a set of free, browser-based PDF tools. For tools labelled local-first, all processing happens on your own device, so your files are not uploaded to, transmitted to, or stored on our servers. You do not need an account, and there is nothing to install.

The Service is provided free of charge and is supported by advertising. We may add, change, or remove tools and features at any time.

You retain all rights to the files you process. Because local-first tools run in your browser, you are solely responsible for your files and for keeping your own backups. We do not receive, see, or store your files, and we cannot recover them.

We are not responsible for any loss, corruption, or unintended modification of your files arising from your use of the Service. Always keep a copy of any important file before processing it.

Privacy is the point of pdfcosmos: the local-first tools run entirely in your browser, and we do not collect your file contents, file names, or document metadata. Our Privacy Policy and Cookies Policy explain the limited information that is involved and how the camera is used by the Scan to PDF tool. By using the Service, you also agree to those policies.

You agree not to use the Service to:

• violate any law or the rights of others, including intellectual-property or privacy rights
• process content you are not authorised to process
• attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the Service or its security
• introduce malware, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or the systems that serve it

The pdfcosmos name, branding, and site content are the property of their respective owners and are protected by applicable laws. You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service in line with these terms. Nothing here transfers any ownership to you.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any particular result (such as a perfectly converted, merged, or compressed file) will be achieved. You use the Service, and rely on its output, at your own risk, and you should review any result before relying on it.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, pdfcosmos and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data or files, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Because the Service is provided free of charge, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless pdfcosmos and its operators from any claims, losses, or expenses arising out of your misuse of the Service, your violation of these terms, or your infringement of the rights of any third party.

pdfcosmos is free and supported by advertising. We display third-party advertising on some pages, and the Service may link to third-party websites (for example, the open-source projects behind our tools). Advertising is kept around the tools rather than inside the file-processing area, and advertisers never receive your files.

Advertisements and linked sites are provided by others. We do not control, endorse, or take responsibility for third-party websites, advertisements, content, products, services, or practices, and any dealings you have with an advertiser are solely between you and them. We are not liable, directly or indirectly, for any loss or damage caused by your use of or reliance on any third-party site or advertisement, and we encourage you to review the terms and privacy policy of any third-party site before using it. How advertising and analytics data are handled is explained in our Privacy Policy and Cookies Policy.

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (in whole or in part) at any time, and we may restrict access if we reasonably believe these terms are being violated. Because there are no accounts, you can simply stop using pdfcosmos, and clearing your browser data removes your saved theme preference.

These terms are governed by the laws applicable where the operators of pdfcosmos are based, without regard to conflict-of-law rules and without affecting any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have in your country of residence.

If you have a concern or dispute about the Service, please contact us first at [email protected]. We will try in good faith to resolve it informally. Most issues can be sorted out quickly this way, before any formal proceedings are needed.

If you are a consumer in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you benefit from any mandatory provisions of the law of the country where you live. Nothing in these terms affects your rights as a consumer to rely on those provisions.

By using the Service, you confirm that your use is lawful where you are, and that you are not located in, or ordinarily resident in, a country or territory subject to trade sanctions or embargoes that would make your use of pdfcosmos unlawful, and that you are not on any government list of restricted or prohibited parties.

We may add, change, or remove features, and we may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above, and for significant changes we will make reasonable efforts to highlight them on this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.

If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will stay in full effect. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it. These terms make up the entire agreement between you and pdfcosmos regarding the Service. If we make these terms available in another language, the English version prevails in the event of any conflict.
