Frequently asked questions

Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?
No. The whole conversion runs in your browser. The PDF is rendered to images on your device and never leaves it. You can confirm it in your browser's Network tab.
What do the resolution options mean?
Resolution controls how many pixels each page is rendered at. 72 DPI is best for on-screen use and gives the smallest files; 150 DPI is a good all-round default; 300 DPI is print-sharp but produces larger images and takes longer.
What does image quality change?
Quality sets the JPEG compression. High keeps the most detail with a larger file. Medium and Low compress harder for smaller files, with a little more blur or blockiness. Resolution changes the pixel size. Quality changes how hard those pixels are compressed.
Should I use JPG or PNG?
JPG makes smaller files and is ideal for pages with photos or scans. PNG is lossless and keeps text and line art razor-sharp, at a larger file size. Try our PDF to PNG tool if you need that.
Can I convert only some pages?
Yes. Choose “First page”, “Last page”, or “Custom range” and type page numbers and ranges separated by commas, for example “1-3, 8, 11-end”. Use a hyphen for a range and the word “end” for the last page.
Why did I get a ZIP file?
When your selection produces more than one image, the JPGs are bundled into a single ZIP so you get one download. Converting a single page gives you a plain JPG instead.
Is there a limit to how many pages I can convert at once?
Yes. Because everything runs in your browser's memory, a single conversion produces up to 100 images at once. For a longer document, convert a page range at a time, or lower the resolution.
