Add margins to a PDF — a white border without changing the page size

Add Margins puts white space around your content on all four sides while keeping the page exactly the same size. Enter a margin in millimetres, inches, or points, and every page is redrawn with your existing content scaled down and centred to make room for the border — proportions preserved, so nothing is stretched or squashed. It's the fix for a document printed too close to the edge, or one that needs breathing room for binding, hole-punching, or handwritten notes.

This is the mirror of Crop PDF (which trims margins away) and different from Resize PDF Pages (which changes the page dimensions themselves) — here the page size never changes, only the padding around the content. Add margins to a single PDF or up to 30 at once, downloading one PDF or a ZIP. Everything runs in your browser with pdf-lib, so your files are never uploaded and never leave your device.

How to add margins to a PDF

Frequently asked questions

Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?
No. Margins are added entirely in your browser using pdf-lib. Your file never leaves your device. You can confirm it in your browser's Network tab: no file data is sent.
What does “add margins” do to my PDF?
It adds white space (padding) around your content on all four sides. The page keeps its original size. The existing content is scaled down and centred to make room for the margin.
How is this different from Resize or Crop?
Resize PDF Pages changes the page dimensions (for example to A4). Crop PDF removes margins. Add Margins keeps the page size and adds a white border around the content, the opposite of cropping.
Does adding margins stretch or distort my content?
No. Content is scaled to fit the smaller area while keeping its proportions, then centred. On a page whose shape differs from the margin box you may see a slightly larger even margin on two sides, but nothing is stretched.
Can I set the margin in inches?
Yes. Choose millimetres, inches, or points. The same margin is applied to the top, bottom, left, and right of every page.
Can I add margins to several PDFs at once?
Yes. Add up to 30 PDFs. Each gets the same margin, and they download together as a ZIP. A single PDF downloads as one PDF.
