Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?
No. Every page is rendered and packed into the TIFF locally, inside your browser tab. The document is never sent anywhere. A glance at the DevTools Network panel confirms it.
What is a TIFF file?
TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) is a high-quality, lossless image format widely used in publishing, scanning, faxing, and document archiving. Many professional and OCR workflows expect TIFF specifically.
Can I get one multi-page TIFF instead of separate images?
Yes. Turn on “Combine into one multi-page TIFF” and every selected page is written into a single TIFF file, the format archival and fax workflows expect. Leave it off to get one TIFF per page (several download together as a ZIP).
Why are TIFF files so large?
A single-page or per-page TIFF here is uncompressed, so it preserves every pixel exactly but is much bigger than a JPG or PNG of the same page. The combined multi-page TIFF is PackBits-compressed, which shrinks document pages (lots of white space) substantially. If file size matters most, PDF to PNG or PDF to JPG will still be smaller.
What do the resolution options mean?
Resolution (DPI) sets how many pixels each page becomes. 72 DPI is smallest (screen), 150 DPI is a good standard, and 300 DPI is sharpest for printing, but higher DPI makes an uncompressed TIFF much larger.
Can I convert only some pages?
Yes. Choose “First page”, “Last page”, or “Custom range” and type page numbers and ranges separated by commas, for example “1-3, 8, 11-end”. Use a hyphen for a range and the word “end” for the last page. The selection applies whether you combine the pages into one TIFF or export them separately.
Why did I get a ZIP file?
That happens when “Combine into one multi-page TIFF” is off and your selection covers more than one page: the separate TIFFs are bundled into a single ZIP so you get one download. Turn the combine option on to receive a single multi-page TIFF instead, and a one-page selection always downloads as a plain .tiff file.
Is there a limit to how many pages I can convert at once?
Yes. Because the whole job runs in your browser's memory, a single conversion covers up to 100 pages. TIFF pages are heavy, so for a longer document convert a page range at a time, or lower the resolution.
